Some towns woo Darden eateries with tax incentives

Darden Restaurants has won hundreds of thousands in tax incentives in several cities in exchange for opening new Olive Garden, Red Lobster and LongHorn Steakhouse restaurants and creating jobs in an uncertain economy. Some municipalities shy away from the practice because it opens the door for other companies to demand similar breaks, and local restaurant owners say the practice is unfair to them.
