Meningitis death toll climbs to 14, health officials say

The number of fungal meningitis cases linked to contaminated steroid injections has risen to 169, including 14 deaths, CDC officials reported on Thursday. The estimate of how many people could have been exposed to the tainted drug made by the New England Compounding Center was raised to 14,000 from a previous total of 13,000.
