Channel offers cloud services a lucrative sales path

Increasing data generation and cloud use are driving a greater need for storage services in the channel, and that's creating opportunities for firms such as Axcient and Artisan Infrastructure, Michael Vizard writes. Artisan says its virtual Private Data Center platform is 70% cheaper than Amazon's service and is compatible with Amazon's API. Axcient sells its cloud-storage product through the channel at a deep discount. "Amazon is a general-purpose cloud platform. As a purpose-built platform, we can leverage our investments in software technology to be a lot more cost-efficient," said Axcient chief Justin Moore.
