Experts suggest how employers should handle the E-Verify shutdown

Employers should set aside I-9 forms for new employees and run them through E-Verify after the government shutdown ends, experts say, noting that employers should disregard language in federal law that discourages them from checking existing workers with E-Verify. "I can't see anybody penalizing an employer for holding onto them and later running everybody through the system," said lawyer David Whitlock.
