Index shows reduced confidence in U.S. economy

Data from Gallup's Economic Confidence Index showed confidence in the U.S. economy dropped to minus 34 points during the first week of government shutdown, a 12-point decline in the weekly index. The score was the second-largest weekly decline since January 2008 and was Gallup's lowest weekly index point since December 2011.
