Cable providers could "solve the problem" of expensive content by jointly developing a streaming service that would compete with Netflix, said Liberty Media Chairman John Malone. He suggested that Comcast's Xfinity services could be expanded and extended to other providers. "The history of the business is replete with the industry solving its Balkanization and scale problem through joint efforts. I think that could be done again," Malone said at Liberty Media's annual investor conference.
