Study: Shared approach bolsters diabetes management

Diabetes patients who joined shared medical appointments for disease management saw a significant decline in A1C, while those who did not participate showed unchanged or slightly higher rates at one year, a study in the American Journal of Medicine found. Shared intervention may also help those skeptical of undergoing insulin therapy to see that insulin-treated patients "are living perfectly normal lives," said researcher Alexander B. Guirguis.
