FDA Approves Modified Pacemaker

The FDA has approved Biotronik's Biotronik Home Monitoring System, a modified pacemaker that allows doctors to monitor the heart's electrical system between office visits. The device sends data via a short-range radio transmitter to a cell-phone-like device patients carry that transmits information to a servicing center that passes the information on to the physician.
