Illinois Governor Urges Fast Solution To School Staffing Discrepancies

Illinois Gov. George Ryan has called for a statewide education summit to discuss ways to assign more experienced teachers to the state's poorest-performing schools. Ryan's demand was prompted by an Oct. 11 state Board of Education report showing that 71% of uncertified Illinois teachers work in the most impoverished school districts.
