Investors face age of price uncertainty

The downfall of mortgage-backed securities and other complex investments has ushered in a Wall Street era that features less transparency and more risk and confusion for investors. The problem stems from the fact that less than half of securities trade on exchanges that offer readily available price information, forcing investors to rely on dealers that don't publish price quotes.
