Do teachers belong on Facebook, MySpace?

The popularity of Facebook and MySpace has many educators wondering whether teachers should use such channels to communicate with their students. "There should be a list of things that are OK," said Alec Couros, an educational technology and media professor at Canada's University of Regina. "Sometimes there is a casualness that students get into, like asking for permission to extend assignment deadlines. Things like that need to be done in a formal way and not on Facebook."
