Financial incentives available for small practices to adopt HIT

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will offer financial incentives to primary-care physicians who work in offices with fewer than 20 physicians, have 50 fee-for-service Medicare beneficiaries and install EHR by a specified date. Incentives will equal $58,000 per physician over five years, or $290,000 per practice over five years.
