The Interior Department is close to completing a revised environmental-risk review of offshore drilling in the country's outer continental shelf. The analysis includes the Chukchi Sea, where Shell and other oil companies offered more than $2 billion for federal leases. Green groups filed a legal challenge against the original assessment and got a court ruling this year that halted the lease sale. Shell is waiting for the case to be resolved before drilling an exploration well in Chukchi next year, company executive Pete Slaiby said.
