Exchanges scrutinize competition from alternative venues

At the World Federation of Exchanges conference, executives from some of the largest exchanges pushed for changes that would relieve some pressures from alternative trading venues. Leaders from NYSE Euronext and the London Stock Exchange scrutinized an "unlevel playing field" that has been created during the past several years by rule changes that were meant to increase competition.
