Representatives Ed Markey, D-Mass., and Joe Barton, R-Texas, said they are concerned that websites collect data without adequately notifying consumers. "There is now a small army of companies collecting, analyzing, trading, and using information about consumers' habits, purchases, and private data," Barton said. He added that many sites' privacy policies are worded in "complicated legalese."
