Survey notes slight increase in small-business owners' optimism

Optimism among small-business owners increased 0.2 points to 89 in September, according to the National Federation of Independent Business index. Four out of 10 individual components in the survey showed gains, signaling sluggish economic improvements. "Optimism rose slightly in September, but remained stuck in the recession zone established over the past two years," according to a report by NFIB.
