A study of 3,000 members of the National Weight Control Registry revealed that participants lost an average of 69 pounds and maintained an average weight loss of 51 pounds after 10 years. Researcher Graham Thomas said the group was successful at keeping the weight off in part by tracking food intake; following a low-calorie, low-fat diet; eating breakfast regularly; and getting regular exercise. The findings were presented at the Obesity Society meeting.
