Pittsburgh Y grows a green roof

The YWCA Downtown in Pittsburgh has installed a green roof to replace its old, leaking black roof. The 64-ton green roof features sedum plants, as well as a rubber membrane installed over four inches of insulation. "We wanted to be part of the green corridor that Pittsburgh is known for," said Maggie Jensen, the Y's CEO. "We wanted to add to it."
