Smaller state, local budgets squeeze Colorado contractors

Colorado is among many states whose municipalities are facing smaller public-works budgets this year, and the contractors that work with the state and localities are caught between the state's shortage of funds and higher prices for materials. Ken Simonson, chief economist for the Associated General Contractors of America, said Colorado "has been lagging in construction" compared to most states.
