Starbucks names Smith's successor

Orin Smith will step down as president and CEO of Starbucks in March 2005, the company announced. As CEO, Smith expanded the coffeehouse's international presence and increased annual sales to $5 billion. As expected, Jim Donald, currently the president of Starbucks North America, was chosen to succeed Smith.
