Web shopping will weather economic downturn, report says

Shopping online will withstand the harsh economy, according to a Shop.org report. Hoping to re-create the in-store vibe, Borders.com has added author interviews, staff recommendations and cooking demonstrations. And because many customers shop online before heading to bricks-and-mortar stores, many retailers have incorporated features to enhance the shopping experience. JCPenney.com launched "Know Before You Go," which enables shoppers to see whether items are in stock.
