Analyst gives dim prospects on potential of shale gas

Shale-formation finds indicate that the U.S. may have enough natural gas to last more than a century, but this could be the next speculative bubble to pop, geological consultant Arthur Berman said at a conference. Research also shows that shale gas fields in Texas and other areas do not hold as much recoverable resources and are not as profitable as the industry estimates them to be, he added. His comments contradict opinions from other experts.
