Businesses are fighting back using tools like Ez.com, a URL shortener that provides a unique ID -- such as shwks.com for the Seattle Seahawks -- to vouch for the link's authenticity. MarkMonitor helps company's monitor their online presence by surfing the Web in search of fake accounts made in its clients' names.
