Educator develops concept-based strategy to teach math

An award-winning teacher is offering new ideas in math education through a workshop for teachers. Hui Fang Huang "Angie" Su -- who was named the 2009 "Mathematics Educator of the Year" by the Florida Association of Mathematics Teachers -- has developed the Project M.I.N.D. [Math Is Not Difficult] method of teaching math that focuses on math concepts rather than rote memorization. "Memorization comes only after they understand the concept behind it," Su said.
