Many teachers keep jobs thanks to stimulus funds

Federal stimulus money has kept tens of thousands of teachers from losing their jobs this year, according to preliminary data from several states obtained by The Associated Press. In California, some 62,000 jobs in public schools and universities were saved or created with stimulus funds, according to the data. The $787 billion stimulus package allocated billions of dollars this year to states expected to come up short on education budgets.
