Construction spending rises on water, sewage works

Spending on heavy construction edged up 1.4% in August, boosted by investment in transportation, water and sewage works. Spending on nonresidential building construction slipped 0.2% in August, the smallest decline in several months. Institutional spending rose slightly, while spending in the manufacturing sector held steady.
