Discontinuing hormone therapy may raise women's risk for hip fracture

A U.S. study found that postmenopausal women who stopped taking hormone therapy had a 55% higher risk of hip fracture than those who continued their therapy. Researchers also learned that the protective benefit of hormone therapy disappeared within two years following discontinuation.
