CDC grant seeks to promote Baby-Friendly hospitals

The CDC announced a three-year grant of almost $6 million to the National Initiative for Children's Healthcare Quality to boost maternity care services in hospitals nationwide by supporting breast-feeding. The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative is based on the "Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding" global criteria created by the World Health Organization and UNICEF, and endorsed by the AAP.
