Cook Children's launches 2-D bar-code technology for vaccines

Cook Children's Health Care System, in collaboration with athenahealth, Sanofi Pasteur, Merck and Microsoft, has introduced a 2-D bar-code system for vaccines. Compared with linear bar codes, 2-D bar codes can store more information such as the vaccine's National Drug Code, lot number and expiration date. The bar-coding technology is set to be presented at the American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference from Oct. 15 to 18 in Boston.
