Microsoft: Networks face few new cyberthreats

Almost all malicious cyberattacks exploit standard vulnerabilities and can be mitigated through common best practices, according to the Microsoft Security Intelligence Report. The report, which scanned data from more than 600 million systems worldwide, found that 45% of all attacks start with user interaction, with would-be hackers employing social-engineering techniques. The report notes that a shift to managed services helps companies cut down on some threats by shifting responsibility off-site, to a third-party provider.
