Nokia, Microsoft move fast to crack U.S. market

With Nokia reportedly ready to release its first Windows Phone by the holidays, the cellphone maker and Microsoft have begun a campaign to attract developers from the Symbian platform by helping them port their mobile applications to Windows, according to a Nokia blog post. Analysts agree that Nokia will ship Windows phones soon but are uncertain how many will be ready for Christmas. Nokia's North America head, Chris Weber, expressed confidence in cracking the U.S. market, saying engineers are "not taking world phones and retrofitting them, which I think was the strategy in the past."
