SCVNGR hopes deals platform will get customers hooked

SCVNGR is launching LevelUp, a deals service designed to compete with Groupon, on a national scale. The product rewards customers for repeated visits to given retail locations, in a bid to reassure retailers who say Groupon deals often fail to generate repeat business. Some analysts say the launch is a sign that SCVNGR's core geo-social check-in business model is failing to generate sufficient revenues.
