Dog rescued by firefighters lands TV cameo

Smokey, the firehouse dog for Station 2 in Jacksonville, Ill., has landed a cameo appearance in an episode of the NBC show "Chicago Fire," besting more than 100 other dogs entered in a national contest. Smokey was resuscitated by firefighters and treated by a veterinarian for three days after being saved from a fire when she was 6 months old. Smokey and the two dogs that placed second and third in the competition now help firefighters teach children about fire safety.
