Google's "shared endorsements" to feature user info, reviews

Google will place user names, photos and reviews in a new set of "shared endorsement" ads without asking or notifying the user beforehand, according to a privacy-policy update. Applications that require Google accounts for log-in may also share activities in Google ads. Users are given an opt-out option, but the possibility for "commercial endorsement without consent" raises legal issues, said Marc Rotenberg of the Electronic Privacy Information Center.
