J.C. Penney hopes for less-promotional holiday season

J.C. Penney's sales declines have slowed after the return of CEO Mike Ullman, and the retailer has enough cash to fund operations through 2015, provided the upcoming holiday season doesn't prove too promotional, analysts say. The CEO's decision to bring back exclusive private-label lines that shoppers can't find anywhere else might help shore up prices and profit margins.
