Maine climbs artisan cheese production rankings

Maine has become the fastest-growing artisan cheese producing state in the U.S., with about 75 artisan cheese-makers, up from 25 in 2006, according to author and cheese expert Jeff Roberts. The cheese-makers use traditional techniques to produce more than 150 types by hand including chevre, cheddar, gouda and fromage blanc.
