Ohio library brings literacy to impoverished preschoolers

The Columbus Metropolitan Library in Ohio sends 12 outreach librarians to impoverished neighborhoods to develop reading and school-readiness skills for preschool-age children through home visits and literacy activities in a bookmobile. Funded by tax dollars and grants, the Ready to Read program serves about 300 families each year.
