SNA seeks to educate lawmakers on effects of shutdown

In a letter to federal lawmakers, the School Nutrition Association explains that school-meal programs depend on the timely influx of federal funding and that many school nutrition professionals are concerned about funding if the government shutdown continues. "School meal programs depend on federal reimbursements to operate," said Leah Schmidt, president of the association. "If the federal government shutdown persists, millions of students who rely on school meals as a primary source of nutrition will suffer."
