Study looks at drivers behind ACO creation

A study in Health Affairs revealed relatively few accountable care organizations are present in the Northwest, while they are abundant in the Northeast and Midwest. Researchers did not observe a link between ACO formation and area income, physician density or Medicare per capita spending. However, provider integration did seem to play a role.
