Experts: U.S. must strengthen science education

In a report to Congress, a panel of prominent scientists and business leaders warned the U.S. could lose its scientific and economic edge if decisive action were not immediately taken to strengthen science and math education and research. Among its proposals, the group recommends beefing up science and math instruction in the public schools and creating a scholarship program to recruit annually 10,000 of the best math and science students to teaching.
