Air cargo falls sharply in August

A steep plunge in domestic shipping contributed to an overall 6.6% drop in August's cargo traffic at U.S. airlines, according to data from the Air Transport Association. Following an 11.8% drop in domestic shipments, year-to-date business is down 2.4% for U.S. carriers. International shipments have fared better, contributing to a 1.5% overall rise for the year.
