Microsoft closes in on launch of retail initiative

Looking to emulate or even exceed rival Apple's success on the retail front, Microsoft is closing in on opening two stores at about the same time that it launches its much-hyped Windows 7 operating system. The company plans to open a store in Scottsdale, Ariz., on or within a few days of the Windows 7 launch on Oct. 22 and another in Mission Viejo, Calif., a couple of weeks later.
