Midwest governors push for $1 billion CO2 pipeline

A group of governors in Midwest states supports the construction of a pipeline that would carry carbon dioxide from power plants to a storage site on the Gulf Coast. They hope to identify and permit the pipeline by 2012. Texas oil and gas firm Denbury Resources is now conducting a feasibility study for the pipeline project, and it has indicated that it can build the pipeline without government subsidies if at least three plants provide the carbon dioxide.
