States request $300M in stimulus funds to improve rail terminals

Seven states have joined together to request $300 million in stimulus funds to improve a network of intermodal terminals where freight is transferred from trucks to rail cars. The goal of the project is to reduce truck traffic on Interstate 81. Virginia Transportation Secretary Pierce Homer said the project could reduce truck traffic on the highway by 15%.
