Cellulosic-ethanol demo plant planned in Pennsylvania

Helios Scientific is proposing to build a demonstration facility in Curwensville, Pa., that would produce cellulosic ethanol from such materials as waste wood, switchgrass and corn stover, said Lee Polite, the company's president and chief science officer. When completed, the plant is expected to utilize about 1 ton of cellulosic material per day to generate about 30,000 gallons of ethanol annually.
