Dinneen: Partial waiver of E15 is a missed opportunity for U.S.

The federal government "is missing an opportunity to meaningfully increase America's use of renewable fuels and reduce our dependence on imported oil" by its decision to limit approval of E15 to vehicles made in 2007 and later, writes Bob Dinneen, president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association. The Environmental Protection Agency's "scientifically unjustified bifurcation of the U.S. car market" will not significantly boost ethanol use and would only confuse fuel marketers and motorists, Dinneen argues. "The goals of Congress to reduce our addiction to oil -- captured in the Renewable Fuels Standard -- cannot be met with this decision."
