DOT: Jet fuel cost 9% more in August

The price of jet fuel continues to creep higher, according to the Transportation Department, reaching an average of $2.22 per gallon in August, compared to $2.02 a year ago. For the year to date, fuel prices are up 22.5% from 2009 levels, though they are still far below the average price of $3.06 per gallon recorded in 2008.
