Feds consider use of Nevada ranch as mustang sanctuary

Madeleine Pickens, the wife of a Texas billionaire, has asked the U.S. Bureau of Land Management to allow her newly-purchased ranch in Nevada to serve as a sanctuary for wild horses that are currently housed at federally-funded holding centers. Pickens' proposal, which is being reviewed by BLM officials, seeks to initially transfer 1,000 horses to the 14,000-acre ranch.
