Insurer's smartphone app helps find urgent-care centers

A new smartphone application from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina gives customers the ability to locate urgent-care centers, compare drug prices and contact customer service from an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Other insurers with iPhone apps include Aetna, which has an app that accesses personal records, and UnitedHealthCare, which offers one that searches for physicians in a specific geographic radius.
