Profit-taking picks up as stock traders await Bernanke's speech

Commodity and stock traders have taken their profit from recent gains and retreated to the sidelines to wait for a signal from Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke about the central bank's readiness to restart quantitative easing. An indication that the Fed is moving toward inflation targeting, gross domestic product goals or bond buying likely would start a round of U.S. dollar sales and heavy purchases of commodities and emerging-market equities, analysts said.
